FAQs

Marnia with her lovely pots!

How Much is the tuition of class, what is included?

As of January 2021, the cost for our 6-week class is $280. As much clay as you can throw, all tools, materials, and bisque firing is included. There is an additional fee for glaze firing, starting at $10 for a piece 7” (tall or wide).

how long is the class?

The class is six weeks long. We meet once a week for 2.5 hrs. There is a week-long break between the 5th class and when we return to glaze our wares. We need a week to dry pots and get them fired and prepared to glaze. Please be patient after we glaze. It can take time to fire all the work. It also takes time (up to 40hrs) for the kiln(s) to cool before we can unload the work.

how long is the waitlist?

It is hard to say exactly how long you may be on the waitlist. We offer seats in the upcoming class to currently enrolled students, before we move to waitlist individuals. But once you are eligible to register, you may stay in class with us as long as you like!

I have little or no experience, is this class right for me?

Absolutely! Our classes are perfect for everyone, from individuals with no wheel or clay experience to skilled professionals. From the basics to refining your skill, there is something for everyone at Flux.

Are kids welcome in the studio to learn how to throw?

Yes! We welcome children of all ages into the studio. We require them to have a parent or guardian take a class or lesson with them at all times, if under the age of 18. It may be something to consider, as younger children may have difficulty controlling the clay as it spins around the wheel. The wheels can move very quickly, and there is a possibility of injury if they are not careful. We would recommend children should be at least ten years of age and 4’ tall.

Do you offer open studio time or studio memberships?

At this time, we do not offer open studio time or studio memberships. We are a small facility, and we are focused on our students' artistic development and growth. We are not a facility geared towards production work. We promise you will have plenty of time to create an abundance of work, and we do not limit the amount of work you may produce while in class.

Can I take a private lesson?

Yes! With private lessons, you will achieve the most significant amount of success in the least amount of time. In addition, private lessons will give you a sense of identity. It is a special time to meet with one of our skilled instructors and work together to improve your own skills and build confidence. Private lessons are generally held on Saturday and Sunday mornings and some Friday evenings. Call or email us OR visit the REGISTER TAB to book a lesson today!
