Digital to Clay - Custom Stencils & Surface Design for Ceramics - 10/7/26 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

$125.00

Sunday October 7th from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Take an image from your screen and put it on clay.

In this three-hour workshop, we'll explore how to turn your own images, drawings, and lettering into custom vinyl stencils for ceramic work. We'll walk you through the process from digitizing your artwork to applying the stencil and building the finished surface with underglaze, slip, or glaze.

The vinyl acts as a resist, allowing you to create crisp imagery, lettering, patterns, and raised surfaces that would be difficult to achieve by hand alone.

You'll learn how to prepare and simplify an image for stencil cutting, apply vinyl cleanly to bisque or leather-hard clay, work with different ceramic materials over the stencil, and remove the vinyl to reveal the final design. We'll also cover how the process changes depending on the surface you're working with and what to consider before firing.

The goal isn't to have everyone make the same pot. Bring your own ideas and we'll show you how to translate them onto clay.

What to Bring

Bring 4 - 6 pieces of bisque or leather hard pots. 2-3 images or designs you'd like to work with, saved as JPEG files. These can be drawings, graphics, lettering, handwriting, logos, patterns, or other imagery.

Some previous ceramics experience is recommended so we can spend our time focused on surface design rather than the fundamentals of working with clay.

What's Included

All stencil materials, vinyl, underglazes, slips, glazes, tools, and supplies are included.

Firing is also included. You're welcome to leave your finished work with Flux for firing and pick it up afterward, or take your pieces with you and handle the firing yourself.

3-Hour Workshop
$125 per person
Limited to 20 participants

Come with a few images and an idea. Leave knowing how to take a digital design and turn it into something you can actually touch.

From digital to clay.
