Join us for Alix’s dynamic Advanced Hand-Building & Sculpture Class at FLUX Studio & Gallery. Designed for students with prior clay experience, this three-hour weekly class is the perfect space to deepen your skills, push your ideas further, and explore the sculptural possibilities of clay.

Working by hand—without the wheel—you’ll refine advanced handbuilding techniques such as slab construction, coil building, hollow forms, joining methods, and surface development while creating expressive pieces that can be functional, figurative, or purely sculptural. Whether you’re interested in animals, abstract forms, vessels, or the human figure, this class offers the time and guidance to bring ambitious ideas to life.

With more than 20 years of experience, Alix brings a thoughtful and supportive teaching style that helps students grow technically while developing their own artistic voice. Expect personalized instruction on proportion, composition, structure, and intricate details like facial features, hands, feet, texture, and finishing techniques.

This class meets once a week for 3 hours, giving you the time to settle into your process and make meaningful progress each session. Students will also return for a dedicated glaze session to complete finished work.

Includes:

  • Clay tools and shared studio materials

  • Expert instruction and demonstrations

  • Weekly 3-hour class sessions

  • Dedicated glaze session

  • Access to a creative and inspiring studio community

Firing fees start at $10 per piece.

If you’re ready to challenge yourself, expand your skills, and make work you’re proud of, this class is for you. Join us at FLUX Studio & Gallery—the heart of Denver’s ceramics community.
