ABOUT FLUX STUDIO & GALLERY
A place to make things with your hands.
Flux Studio & Gallery is a pottery studio in Denver built around a simple belief: making something with your hands changes how you feel in your life.
There’s a kind of satisfaction that comes from clay on the wheel—the focus, the mess, the moment something imperfect starts to take shape. That feeling is what we built Flux around.

How it started
My first experience with clay was in high school in Montrose, CO where I grew up. Like most people, it started with a spinning wheel, a bit of chaos, and a crooked first pot that didn’t quite turn out the way I imagined—but I was hooked.
I went on to spend a short time in college before stepping away. From there, I spent the next 15 years working in construction—building things in a very different way, but always feeling pulled back toward the studio.
Pottery was something I returned to on and off over the years. And each time I did, I had the same feeling: this is something I need to keep doing.
I was lucky to have kind, patient mentors along the way—people who taught me not just technique, but how to keep going. Eventually, I knew I wanted to pass that forward.
So I jumped in head first—rented a space, bought a few wheels, and installed my first gas kiln in the back of Eron Johnson Antiques.Flux began there.
Why Flux exists
At first, Flux was just a studio. But almost immediately, something bigger happened.
People showed up wanting to create.
Beginners, artists, people looking for something new—there was a clear need for a space that felt open, accessible, and free of intimidation. At the time, there were only a few private studios in Denver offering real instruction.
So we built something different.
A place with room for all of it—learning, experimenting, failing, improving, and eventually, feeling proud of what you made.
Because there is a specific kind of pride that comes from pulling a finished piece out of the kiln and knowing: I made this.
That’s what we want people to leave Flux with.
A studio for everyone
Flux is for anyone with a creative itch.
Beginners who have never touched clay before.
Families and date nights trying something new.
Working artists developing their practice.
Professional potters refining their skills.
There is no “right level” to be here.
If you want to make, you belong.
Our instructors
Flux is guided by a small team of instructors—five of us in total, including myself.
We have four wheel-throwing instructors and one sculpture and hand-building instructor. Each brings a different teaching style and artistic voice to the studio, but all share the same goal: to meet people where they are and help them grow from there.
Some students need structure. Some need space. Most need a bit of both.
Our instructors know how to guide all of it—whether it’s your first bowl or your hundredth.

A new chapter
After more than nine years in our original studio, Flux has moved into a new home this past March.
My wife and I purchased the building from her brother—a space that has been in her family for over 35 years. After two years of renovations, we’re finally here.
This new studio is a huge step forward—nearly triple the space, thoughtfully divided for making, teaching, firing, and community.
It’s still Flux. Just more of it.
