Flux Studio and Gallery is seeking ceramics instructors to teach day and/or evening classes, and private lessons. Our classes run for six week sessions with each class meeting once a week. We are expanding our studio and looking for availability for every day/night of the week.

Looking for experienced ceramics teachers for pottery classes with Adults. Intermediate to advanced wheel-throwing skills, and thorough knowledge of glaze and glaze application is required. We allow personal use of the studio for instructors outside of class.

We prefer someone with professional knowledge who understands the value of the arts and its need. In addition to class time, instructors receive additional paid hours for planning, set-up, and break down time

Role and Responsibilities
• Expertise in wheel throwing, surface design, glazing, and clay lifecycle.
• Help in firing student pottery/loading and unloading kilns.
• Setup before, and breakdown/cleanup after each class.
• Keep ceramics studio clean and organized.
• Respond to class-specific inquiries from participants and community members.
• Provide instruction through varied demonstration processes.
• Actively support student success through guidance, advising and assisting individual students as needed.

Other Duties/Responsibilities Required
• Adheres to Flux Studio and Gallery procedures.
• Arrive ON TIME.
• Performs duties as workload necessitates.
• Maintains a positive and respectful attitude.
• Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and the ability to prioritize workload.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
• A rich portfolio showing a range of work
• Expertise in pottery and ceramics
• Expertise in using a kiln.
• Experience working with all age groups and diverse communities.
• (Preferred) prior experience planning, managing, or coordinating art programs but not necessary.
• Superior oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects with ease, while striving for accuracy and excellence in all areas.
• Ability to track, analyze, and adjust programs as necessary.
• (Preferred) Current CPR/First Aid Certification

Physical/Mental Requirements (ADA Compliance)
• Mental requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to concentrate, take initiative, cope with stress, adapt to and stay alert in a business environment
• In order to perform the essential duties of the job, the employee must be able to speak, hear, see and walk more than 2 miles each day.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Schedule:

  • 2-3 hour shifts

  • Day shift

  • Evening shift

  • Weekend availability

Pay:

From $18.00 to $22.00 an hour / Private Lesson pay varies.
