Shadow Sessions - 3, 5, or 7 day
Shadow Sessions - 3, 5, or 7 day
Join Derek for a 3, 5, or 7 day intensive workshop and shadow session where you will learn what it takes to own and operate a private ceramic studio. You will become a more skilled wheel thrower, as well as expand your overall artistic perception of shape and form. we will load and unload kilns, and fire them also. You will learn the basics of mixing glazes, and how to safely handle raw materials for mixing your own glazes, in your studio. Each day you will have access to the studio from 10am - 8:30pm. There will be some days I will leave the studio for the day around 6pm. We will start the Session with glazing, loading, and firing a kiln. Please bring 10 - 15 pieces of bisque ware, of your own to fire. Each day you will receive a two hour private lesson, and you will have the day to practice and create on the wheel. Outside of your private lesson, and while you are throwing pots, I will be working in the studio all day. I may be throwing pots, loading kilns, cleaning, mixing glazes or any other number of tasks that are required to maintain our day to day business in the studio. This may also include social media, emails, website orders, photography, or any other digital media tasks. If you are interested how that is cultivated, maintained, and produced we can spend time working on those items and assist in building your digital footprint as well. Either way I am there with all day should you need any assistance or have any questions.
